Science tries to explain patterns found in nature.  In order to do thisquestions must be posed and answers pursued by carrying out experimentsand analyzing the results.  The goal of k-12 science classes at LCSD isto encourage students to ask these questions and give them the skillsand knowledge to answer them. Engaging Lansing students in inquiryincreases their understanding of how scientific knowledge isacquired and provides a vehicle on which to build student mastery ofbasic concepts in each field of science.  Through hands oninvestigations, skills such as measuring, manipulating equipment, collecting, graphing, analyzing, and reporting data are strengthened. Real life application of scientific knowledge is shown as well asconnections with technology, math and other fields so studentsunderstand the importance of scientifically literacy in today's world.
